When it comes to online shopping, the number of abandoned shopping carts is huge. People start to buy and then reconsider. They simply walk away and leave the purchase they wanted in the electronic shopping cart.
How can we get people to actually purchase the product? Well, with the high cost of living now that is not at all easy. Times are tough and people are cheap. Unless something is going to cure their figurative angina, or give them some kind of emotional enjoyment, forget it. They are not inclined to complete the purchase.
Here are some sales tactics you can use to help the shopping customer become inclined to take money out of their wallet and actually take the purchase to completion:
- Fear. If you can scare the customer into believing that something bad will happen if they do not buy the product, chances are they will snap that puppy up, throw it into the cart, finish the sale, and run off happily with their purchase. Fright does wonders.
- Being better than the next guy. If you can create status with your product, the customer will be inclined to purchase it. We all want prestige and to be better than the guy next door. It is a sick and wonderful fact of marketing.
- Adoration. If the prospect is acquainted with you virtually, and you have earned that trust factor that is so hard to come by, there is a high probability that the shopper will click and buy. They love you. And they feel you love them.
- Shock and awe. If your product has an element of mystery about it, people love this. they want to be cool like James Bond 007, too. Having an air of the unknown about your product so that the customer wants to know more, is a good thing. They buy to find out more, and to gain the status that being like you can provide. That’s why people who aspire to be like donald Trump buy at Trump Tower, paying outrageous amounts of money in the process.
- Being the boss. If you wield power in your niche marketplace and are one of the cool kids, people will want to be like you. Basically we are all the meek and the infamous. If we could be as powerful as the leaders in the world, we’d be happy. Face it, Warren Buffett of Omaha and William Gates the geek did not get to where they are on looks and brains alone. They got there because their businesses have achieved and carry a certain amount of power because of their size.
- Steamy meemie. There’s nothing like the strength of lusty attraction to move a product off the shelf. People wanting a date have that in spades. They are looking for love. If your product can offer the prospect of that, you are a winner, and no abandoned shopping cats for you!
When you look at this list in detail, it all comes down to filling some deficit that your yearning customer has. Help them out. Give them what they want. Help them achieve their goal. You are a very important person in their life. Help them have some shopping fun.
