The Best Places to Live 2011

Despite the recession that is hammering the economy and making life a little tougher right now, people can still consider these places to be the best places to live in 2011. These cities have proved themselves “recession proof” and are thriving in spite of everything. While nationally, the prices of homes are falling and the economy remains sluggish these cities and regions are doing just fine.

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma has a falling unemployment rate and the industries of agriculture, manufacturing and energy are growing at a quick and robust pace. Thanks to many factors, including the surge in popularity of their successful professional basketball team, this city might be the best poised to come of the recession stronger than when it went in.

Right behind Oklahoma City is San Antonio. It has already proved itself recession proof. Back in 2008 when AT&T formed their now mega corporation by swallowing up SBC corporations the city started to plow through the rough times. It has similar strong housing and unemployment rates as Oklahoma City.

Texas cities are actually doing the best during these times especially the cities of San Antonio, Austin, Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth. These areas have found great benefit from historically low housing prices and unlike other areas of the country, their local economies are supportive enough that people can still buy.

Some cities are still projected to see growth in the coming months and years. Raleigh, North Carolina is expecting to see non-farm payrolls increase. This means that more industry and modern employment opportunities are coming to the area. A booming economic situation is sure to result and people are knocking each other over for a chance at real estate in the area.

So regardless of what people are saying about the housing market, some of the most beautiful and splendid cities in the country are among the best places to live in 2011!
