Borrowing behaviors are not the same in different cultures. What is the reason behind taking student loans in one country may not necessarily mean that it is the same in another part of the world. There is no doubt that it is difficult to get a job in Poland. The very good thing about this country is that it is part of the European Union, which means that as a citizen of Poland you can work pretty much in whole Europe. In order to compete for a job positions that yield higher rewards you need to have a strong resume. That is the main cause of so many student loans taken in this country.

Is Taking a Student Loan a Good Thing for Typical Polish Student?

It all depends on the student and what he is going to college for. If he or she thinks that by graduating from an University he or she can expect a dream job, there might be surprises. Few years ago a college diploma was enough to do that. Today you need something in addition to it. A solid resume with job history and skills that differentiate you from the crowd will be very helpful during the job interview.  Be active in the community and volunteer or take a semester abroad in order to learn a second language. These are the small things that you can do in order to strengthen your chances for getting a job in Poland or outside of it. Decide whether a student loan is for your or getting a job experience is better before you decide what you want to major in.
